Raymond Clarence Halter

Raymond Clarence Halter, 80, of The Villages, FL, formerly of Robinson, died on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Club Health and Rehabilitation Center in The Villages, FL after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was born June 13, 1936, near Lawrenceville, IL, the son of Edmond & Barbara Halter, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Ed Halter. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Rosemary Halter, Robinson; four nieces & their husbands, Linda & Jeff Rich, Susan & Scott Goodwine, Janet & Steve Jenkins, and Mary Ann & Lantz Griffin; ten great-nieces and great-nephews, a great-great nephew, a great-great niece, and aunt & uncle, Rita & Paul Holscher, Vincennes, IN; as well as his caregivers, Christina Evans and Carol Waters, The Villages, FL. He graduated from Lawrenceville High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1959-1961, stationed in Taiwan as a communication specialist. He was a member of the Robinson American Legion, Forty and Eight Veterans Organization, and a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Upon retirement from farming, he joined the resort community at The Villages in Florida in 2008, where he was a member of St. Timothy Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26th at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Robinson, with Fr. James Flach officiating. Visitation will be held before the Mass from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, rural Palestine. Memorials may be made to St. Elizabeth Catholic Church or to the Oak Grove Cemetery Association, with envelopes available at the church. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine is in charge of arrangements.
