Rebecca Ann Aten

Rebecca Ann Aten, 72, of Ottawa, IL, formerly of Robinson, IL, died at 4:01 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 in the comfort of her home in Ottawa, IL. She was born February 5, 1943 in Robinson, the daughter of Estel Earl Aten & Elva Lucy Musgrave Aten, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister, Sue & Phil Wagner (Lindenhurst, IL); her nephews, Brian & Lisa Wagner (Summerville, SC) and Scott & Ingrid Wagner (Hawthorn Woods, IL); and her good friend, Jean Reuther (Ottawa, IL). Becky was a 1961 graduate of Robinson High School and went on to get her bachelor's degree in Art Education at Eastern Illinois University and her master's degree in Fine Arts at the University of Illinois. Art was Becky's life. Not only did she practice art, but she taught it for years at Ottawa High School before retiring in 1999. Her creative spirit wasn't held to paintbrushes and pencils, as she also enjoyed photography, pottery, leatherwork, among other medias. She was a member of the National Art Education Association and the Illinois Art Education Association. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 22nd at the Robinson New Cemetery in Robinson, IL, with Celebrant Curt Goodwine officiating the service. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice, with envelopes available at the cemetery. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements.
