Rev John W. Conover

Rev. John W. Conover, 91, of Robinson, IL, died at 7:00 a.m. on October 30th, 2014 at the Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson. He was born on April 27th, 1923, in Birds, IL the son of Fulmer & Bernice Conover. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps during WWII in the Pacific Theatre. He served as pastor for the Duncanville Baptist Church, the West Union Baptist Church, the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, and the Bagoda Baptist Church (Newton). He married his wife Lois on October 18th, 1947, and they shared over 67 years of marriage before his death. He is also survived by his son, Robert Conover and wife Karla of Oklahoma, daughter Terresa Shoulders and husband Stan of Robinson, son Wyatt Conover of Hillsboro; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his sister, Mary Bell Crawford and husband Dale of Vincennes; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Gary Conover; and sisters Dixie Jean Baker and Frances Lee Carver. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 3rd at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson, with burial to follow at the Robinson New Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 2nd at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Baptist Children’s Home in Carmi, IL, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
