Rex Bonesteel, 75, of West Union, IL, died at 9:40 a.m. on Friday, May 6, 2016 in the comfort of his home. He was born July 13, 1940 in Clark County, the son of Vance Bonesteel & Mary Marie Ingle Bonesteel. He married Ruth Arlene McCrory on September 30, 1960, and she survives. He is also survived by his daughter & son-in-law, Cindy & Duane Blankenbeker (West Union, IL); by his grandchildren, Jordan (Blankenbeker) & David Runyon (Robinson, IL), Dalton Payne Blankenbeker (West Union, IL), and Jarin Blankenbeker (West Union, IL); by his great-grandson, Connor Runyon (Robinson, IL); by his brother & sister-in-law, Jim & Karen Bonesteel (Marshall, IL); by his sisters & brothers-in-law, Nancy & Joe Swope (Champaign, IL) and Carol & Troy Harmon (Palestine, IL); as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vance & Mary Bonesteel; by his sisters, Pauline St. John, Anna Mae Holler, and Rosalie Daugherty; by his brothers: Norman and Don Bonesteel. He was a 1958 graduate of Marshall High School in Marshall, IL. He went on to work for Marathon Tire for 25 years before owning his own tire service in West Union for 15 years. Away from work, Rex could often be found mowing or watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball. More than anything, though, Rex enjoyed spending time with his wife Arlene, his 'kids' Cindy & Duane, as well as his grandkids and his great-grandchild. A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10th at the Prust-Hosch Funeral Home in West Union. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 11th at the funeral home with Bro. Randy Nave officiating the service. Burial will follow in the West York (Bradbury) Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the West York (Bradbury) Cemetery, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
