Richard Eugene Montgomery IIRichard Eugene Montgomery II died at 4:20 a.m. on Friday, March 11, 2011 at the home of his sister in Oblong. He was born August 1, 1961, the son of Richard Eugene Montgomery, Sr. and Elsie Hanna Montgomery. Gene served his country in the U.S. Army and National Guard and spent one year in Korea. He was a poet and a lover of music.He married Pamela Thrall on March 5, 1980 and she preceded him in death on May 26, 1980. He is survived by his parents, Richard Eugene Montgomery, Sr. and Elsie Montgomery of Robinson; his brother, Charles Glenn Montgomery, Flat Rock; his two sisters and a brother-in-law, Sue Montgomery, Oblong and Elizabeth & Jeff Montgomery, Robinson; as well as several nieces and nephews.A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 14, 2011 at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Flat Rock. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the Crawford County Relay for Life, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
