Rita Harlene Tohill

Rita Harlene Tohill, 74, of Flat Rock, IL, died at 3:23 a.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Ridgeview Care Center in Oblong, IL. She was born on November 8, 1942 in Vincennes, IN, the daughter of Walter Harlin Johnson & Mary L. (Andrews) Johnson, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Reba Goble. She married Keith Tohill on June 18, 1993, and he survives. She is also survived by her step-children, Cindy Houghtaling (Palestine, IL), Orman “Okie” Tohill (Robinson, IL), and Kevin Tohill (Robinson, IL); as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Rita was a 1961 graduate of Lincoln High School in Vincennes, IN. She went on to work at JC Penny for 20 years. Away from work, she loved sewing, having made many quilts and an entire wardrobe of her own clothes. When she wasn’t busy working a needle, she enjoyed going to auctions and finding a good deal. She will be missed by all who knew her. A visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 7th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Flat Rock. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 8th at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. CST (2:00 p.m. EST) at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Vincennes, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to any Flat Rock-area church of the donor’s choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
