Robert Dean Gray

Robert Dean Gray, 79, of Graysville, died 11:50pm on Monday, May 12th at his home. He was born in West Plains Missouri on December 4th, 1934, the son of Charles Edward and Velma Pauline Fine Gray. He served in the United States Air Force from 1956-1960 where he was stationed in England. Robert served as an ordained minister at the Pilgrim Holiness Church in Frankfort IN, the Merom Holiness Church in Merom IN, the Pilgrim Holiness Church in Mason IL, the Palestine Wesleyan Church in Palestine IL and the Pilgrim Holiness Church in Bloomington IL. He also filled in for many churches. Robert retired from the Merom powerplant, and retired from ministry in 2003. He married the love of his life, Naomi Ruth Wheeldon, on June 2nd 1973, and she survives in Graysville. He is also survived by his daughter Junia Ruth Hall and his son Philip Dean Gray, and 11 grandchildren and his mother Velma Gray. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters-in-law Jack and Carolyn Gray of Hutsonville, Don and Donna Gray of Milford, Paul and Joan Gray of Chebanse, Wayne and Sandy Gray of Clinton, Roy and Rita Gray of Gilman, Randy and Diana of Gilman, sisters and brothers-in-law Charlene and Mike McAllister of Scottsdale AZ, and Sheryl and Bill Sheets of Peoria. He was preceded in death by his father and sister Norma Copas. Funeral Service for Robert will be held at 2:30pm on Sunday, May 18th at the Pilgrim Holiness Church of Palestine, with Pastor Paul Gray Officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine and from 1:30pm until service time at 2:30pm on Sunday. Memorial Contributions may be made to Pilgrim Holiness All Purpose Building or to The Gideon’s International.
