Robert L. Gray

Robert L. Gray, 89, of Palestine, IL, died at 7:15 p.m. on Monday, March 9, 2015 at the Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson. He was born May 18, 1925 in Merom, IN, the son of Clifford Gray & Charlotte Smith Gray. He served his country in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He was a surveyor for the State of California, a job he enjoyed for many years. He was an avid golfer for most of his life. He married Ruth Emily Tilford, and she preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Barbara J. Bogard and Janet R. Daugherty. He married Juanita Scott Turpen on January 30, 1993, and she survives. He is also survived by two sisters, Norma Burns (Sullivan, IN) and Martha & Paul McCammon (Sullivan, IN); step-children, Diana M. & Tim Haugar (FL), Edward E. Leach (FL); as well as several step-grandchildren. Robert will be cremated and a private graveside service will be held at a later date. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine is in charge of arrangements.
