Robert Moyer, 83, of Robinson, IL, died on December 2, 2025, at Robinson Rehab in Robinson, IL. He was born on August 8, 1942, in Mt. Carmel, IL, to Paul and Audrey (Middleton) Moyer, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded by his brothers, Gerald “Jerry” Moyer and Wesley Moyer.
Robert grew up in Mt. Carmel, IL, and graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in 1960. A gifted student with a steady work ethic, he went on to earn both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Mathematics Education from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, in 1964 and 1967. His love for learning and his dedication to teaching led him even further, and he completed his PhD at the University of Illinois in 1974.
Robert devoted his career to the field of mathematics education. He taught at Fort Valley State University in Fort Valley, Georgia, and later at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, Minnesota, shaping generations of students through his work. After retiring, he continued contributing to the discipline by revising mathematics textbooks, a reflection of both his expertise and his lifelong commitment to the craft.
A simple, hardworking man, Robert found joy in the quieter things of life. In his younger years, he was a dedicated member of the Elks Lodge in Warner Robins, Georgia. He enjoyed reading Westerns, a pastime he carried with him throughout his life. In his later years, he moved to Robinson to be closer to his sister and nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his daughter, Michelle (Sophie Parent) Moyer , his sister, Barbara Day, and several nieces and nephews.
It was Robert’s wish to be cremated with no services. Goodwine Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
