Roger Dale Evans

Roger Dale Evans, 97, of Robinson, IL, died at 7:05 p.m. on February 21, 2015 at the Magnolia Center in Robinson, IL. Born January 21, 1918 in Porterville, IL, Roger married Lillian F. Lindsay on August 2, 1940, and she preceded him in death on October 11, 2011. They were married for 71 years, and had two children, Carol Evans Reinoehl & husband Bill Reinoehl (Robinson, IL) and Tyler Evans & wife Barb Evans (Nags Head, NC). He is also survived by three grandsons & their wives, Jeff & Rhonda Reinoehl, Mike & Angie Reinoehl, and Tim & Barb Reinoehl (all of Robinson, IL); six great-grandchildren, Rusty Reinoehl, Lindsay & Todd Wirey, Kalee & Brad Bengtson, Dustin Reinoehl, Willie Reinoehl, and Jacob Reinoehl; six great-great-grandchildren, Laerin Wirey, Keagan Wirey, Chase Wirey, Logan Bengtson, Lillian Reinoehl, and Baby Bengtson due March 2015; sisters-in-law, Joyce Leckey (Oblong, IL), Marcie Evans (Winston Salem, NC), Lou Stidham (Monticello, IN), and Mary & Jerry Cooper (Pflugerville, TX); as well as several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Richard E. Evans & Scottie M. Bidle; one sister, Glenore Evans McCullough; eight brothers, Wilfred Evans, Kent Evans, Louis Evans, Richard Evans, George Evans, Norman Evans, Walter Evans, and Danny Evans. Roger was a vital, active man his entire life. He worked at Marathon Oil for 42 years before retiring at the age of 62. He was an active member of Oak Glen Golf Course and the Illinois Sportsman Club. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, and gardener. Roger took care of his own home and property until December 30, 2014 when he was admitted to CMH. His birthday on January 21, 2015 was a bittersweet celebration. He lived a good and healthy life, enjoying many of the rewards of being an honest and hardworking man. A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 25th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date at the Robinson New Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Crawford County Humane Society, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
