Ronald W. Adams, 85, of Oblong, IL, passed away on October 21st, 2025, at Crawford Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his wife of twenty-seven years, Amanda Adams and his daughters Allyssa Adams and Heather (Nathan) Rogers; sons Ron (Laurel) Adams Jr. and Daniel O’Dell (Tonia Michl); along with beloved grandchildren Karina Adams, Oskar Adams, Brayten Rogers, Krystnee Rogers, Krystlynn Rogers, and Rychelle Rogers; siblings Lee (Pam) Adams, Clifford (Linda) Adams. He is also survived by his first wife, Judith K. Adams. And his most beloved protector, Bella Moon. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Melissa Adams; his brothers, Austin Adams and Norris Adams; his sister, Melinda (Joe) Hunt; and a beloved and faithful dachshund, Toby.
He was born January 7th, 1940, in the middle of a snowstorm in Bloomington, IL. He grew up in Palestine, IL, but had the pleasure of living in New Mexico for a short time. He attended a one-room schoolhouse, where he became a math whiz, until finally graduating from Palestine High School in 1957.
A jovial and faithful person, Ronald spent his years working at the Marathon refinery, and he finally retired after thirty-eight years while also balancing working on the farm. He was a proud farmer; he loved to admire his tall corn and the deer that roamed the land. He was notorious for cracking jokes and playing pranks. He was a collector for life, cabbaging onto anything from ball cards to rocks to pocketknives to various antiques to ducks. He loved to play solitaire late into the night and go get ice cream—only to end up with the chocolate shakes. Ronald was a great father, always helping with projects, especially the ones that required precision and skill. He will always be remembered in our hearts with a laugh and a smile and a joke ready to tell.
A time of visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 25th, at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Funeral services will immediately follow at 12:00 p.m., with Rev. Paul Gray officiating. Those attending are encouraged to dress casually. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Crawford County Humane Society, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
