Rosemary Badgley, 85, of Robinson, IL, passed away on June 19, 2025, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by the love of her family.
She was born on April 6, 1940, in Robinson, the daughter of Francis Lee and Bethel (Crossfield) Moore. She grew up here, graduated from Robinson High School in 1959, and never really left the place she called home. Over the years, she became a familiar face to many—first at the Ettelbrick Shoe Factory and later at Victor Dana, where she worked as a bundler and press operator for three decades. She enjoyed her work and made many good friends along the way. It was steady, honest work, and she took pride in doing it well.
Rosemary was the kind of person who showed love more through actions than words. If someone needed a hand, she was already on her way. When her kids were growing up, she was the kind of mom who’d do without so they wouldn’t have to. And when her grandkids came along, well—that’s when her world got even richer. She loved watching them play, helping with school fundraisers, and going on long walks around town with little hands tucked in hers. Just being with them brought her so much joy.
She had a real love for being outside. Working in the yard, tending her flowers, especially red roses, or watching hummingbirds buzz around her mimosa tree—those were some of her favorite ways to spend the day. Her home was filled with little things that made her smile: crosses, angels, and bells from all over—most of them picked up by her or gifted by someone who saw one and thought, “Mom would love this.” She had quite the collection, and each one held a memory. She also loved puzzles—crossword and word search alike—and had a soft spot for cookbooks, especially back when she spent more time in the kitchen. Cooking was just another way she cared for people.
She was, in every sense of the word, kind. Sweet, generous, and deeply rooted in her love for family. In her final days, she said she’d had a good life. And she meant it. She didn’t ask for much attention—but her love was constant, and her presence, unforgettable.
Rosemary married Kay M. Badgley on June 12, 1982. They shared years full of simple joys, laughter, and the kind of companionship that doesn’t have to be loud to be strong. He passed away in 2000, and she had missed him ever since. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Marilyn Sue Moore, Francis Lee “Sonny” Moore, Jr., Pearl Nettles, Violet Hyatt, Helen Grose, Robert Gene Moore, Larry Moore, Charles Moore, and Maxine Cook; her granddaughters, Zandra Decker and Felicia (Dunlap) Wagner; and her great-granddaughter, Malayna Davies.
She leaves behind her children, Anita and Robert Miller of Robinson, Dottie and Roger Brimberry of Robinson, and Eddie Dunlap of Palestine, along with a multitude of grandkids, great-grandkids, nieces, and nephews who will carry her memory with them always.
In keeping with her wishes, she’ll be cremated, and the family will hold a private burial at a later date. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is handling the arrangements. Memorials may be made to an organization close to her heart, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and memorial envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
