Ruth "Susie" Hays

One of the sweetest ladies has passed away into Jesus' arms. Ruth “Susie” Christine Hays died at 1:06 p.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2015, at the age of 83, at the emergency room in Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson, IL. Ruth was born on April 3, 1932 in Robinson, IL. She was the daughter of Roscoe and Della May (Doyle) Scott. She married James Norman Hays on October 29, 1949 at the age of 17. Jim was her one and only love who she knew she would marry when she first saw him. They would have been married for 60 years the year Jim passed away on June 28, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her parents; by her four brothers, James, Lawrence, Robert, and Lloyd Scott; and son Roscoe Leonard in infancy. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Rutigliano (Robinson, IL), who was her caregiver for almost seven years along with her granddaughter, Anna Rutigliano, who she resided with. She is also survived by three sons & daughters-in-law, Gregory & Jennifer Hayes (Robinson, IL) Randy & Tanya Hayes (Robinson, IL), and James & Dena Hays (Eldorado, IL); and a special granddaughter, Frances Woosley, who she & James raised as their own. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-great grandchildren due in 2016; two sisters- in- law, Anna Scott (Robinson, IL) and Martha Beradi (Clearwater, FL); as well as several nieces & nephews. Ruth attended the Wesleyan Church in Robinson, IL. She was a bundler at Victor Dana Corp. for 33 years. She was known as the coffee maker with her friend Joan Elkins while she worked at Victor Dana and where she had numerous friends. Ruth was a special wife, mother, and grandmother and as her grandson Jeremy Hays quoted: 'Well, heaven gained one of the most amazing women that has ever been in my life, you will be missed greatly. Rest in Peace, Grandma.' We love you. A time of visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 18th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Funeral services will follow and will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, with Pastor Russ Shotwell officiating the service. A graveside service will follow the funeral and will be held at the Prairie Cemetery (rural Robinson). Memorials may be made to the Crawford County Humane Society or to the Robinson Food Pantry, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
