Sandra L. (Rains) Mueller

Sandra L. (Rains) Mueller, 82, of Indianapolis, IN died at IU-Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN on Saturday, March 3 following an extended illness. She was originally from Hutsonville, IL. Ms. Mueller is survived by a sister, Mary Jo Rains, of Robinson, IL. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents (Russell and Audra Rains) of Hutsonville, IL. She is also survived by cousins Jim and Jean Rains of West York, IL; the Doug Newlin family of Hutsonville, IL; the Michael Bandy family of Thomasboro, IL, and numerous loving friends in central Indiana and California. Sandra was a successful antique dealer for nearly 20 years. She was a dedicated patron of musical and creative arts and regularly traveled to New York and London to enjoy live theatre and musicals. She was a long-time supporter of many charities and universities in the Midwest and known to be a brilliant, generous, and talented woman. She was a committed University of Illinois and Chicago Bears fan. Ms. Mueller worked over 40 years in business, manufacturing, and technology for companies in Illinois and Indiana, including Caterpillar, Detroit Diesel Allison, Naval Avionics Center/Naval Air Warfare Center, Hughes Aircraft, and Raytheon Corporation, retiring from there in 2001. She had attended the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana and graduated from the University of Miami, Oxford, OH. There will be no public service. The Prust-Hosch Funeral Home in West Union, IL is in charge of arrangements. The family is asking that contributions to honor and remember Sandra L.
