Sarah Kathryn Kimmel

Sarah Kathryn Kimmel, 99, formerly of Robinson, IL, passed away peacefully at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at the United Methodist Village, Lawrenceville where she resided for the past several years. She was born May 19, 1914 in Crawford County, IL, the daughter of Henry Brashear and Carrie L. Seaney Brashear. She was a production employee at the Ettlebrick Shoe Factory in Robinson and a member of the Robinson First United Methodist Church. Sarah married Omer Woodard on May 4, 1935 and he preceded her in death on December 21, 1982. She then married Clyde Kimmel on September 3, 1994 and he preceded her in death on February 20, 2002. She was also preceded by her daughter, Shirley West; her son-in-law, James Richard Smith; her parents; a granddaughter, Debra K. Smith; her great grandson; and 2 sisters, Wilma Carr and Helen A. Brashear.Survivors include her daughter, Marilyn M. Smith, Houston, TX; her son and daughter-in-law, Donald E. and Dorothy Woodard, Pleasanton, CA; her son-in-law, Ron West, Terre Haute, IN; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.Sarah will be remembered for her fabulous cooking, love of the outdoors, her flowers, travels and the sweet nature. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 20th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m.
