Sharon Lee Gulyas, 66, of West Union died at 12:06 a.m. on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at the Lakeland Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in Effingham, IL. She was born June 18, 1946 in Terre Haute, IN, the daughter of Maurice Wernz & Juanita Hargis Wernz. She was a school bus driver for both the Marshall & Jefferson City (MO) School Districts. She also worked as a CSM for 10 years at the Jefferson City Wal-Mart.Sharon enjoyed a creative lifestyle that included painting, sewing, cross-stitching, and quilting. She also loved animals, and raised several horses, cattle, goats, dogs, and a pot-bellied pig. Family was especially important to her, and this was most evident in the time she spent playing with her grandchildren.On December 1, 1984, she married Vince Gulyas, and he preceded her in death on May 8, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her mother, Juanita Wernz.Sharon is survived by her four children & their spouses, Tammy McCammon (Marshall, IL), Valerie & Barry Blankenbecker (Elsah, IL), Angie & Jim, Jr. Robinson (Toledo, IL), and David & Kimberley Sweitzer (Ogden, KS); three step-daughters, Vickie Hall, Kim Patterson, and Jenny Loury, all of Michigan; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her father, Maurice Wernz (West Union); as well as her sister, Ruthie Gallington (Marshall, IL).Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 25th at the Prust-Hosch Funeral Home in West Union, with Pastor Rich Barnett officiating. Burial will be in the Ohio Cemetery, rural West Union. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 24th at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
