Sharron Lasam, 69, of Palestine, IL died at 5:46 p.m. on Monday, June 13, 2016 in the comfort of her home. She was born May 24, 1947 in Petersburg, IN, the daughter of Ernest Wayne Elliott & Betty Lou (Kendall) Elliott, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Teresa Elliott. Sharron married Romulo Lasam on December 3, 1971, and they were married until 2004. They built their family home in Palestine from the ground up with their own two hands. She is survived by her children, Jonie (Lasam) & Jeremy Patterson of Palestine IL, Romy & Valerie Lasam of Tangier, IN, Lisa (Davis) Roy of Oblong IL, Rosanno Lasam of the Philippines, Rodrigo Lasam of Chicago IL, and Rosendo & Beth Lasam of California; by her grandchildren: Erikka, Jerra, Jeremiah, and Sierra Patterson; Talen, Kayahna, Madilynn, Thorin, and Quintas Lasam; Cloudy and Tyson Roy; Jeaunda and Rodrigo Lasam; Lori Ann Lasam; Regina, and Rena Lasam. Sharron was the oldest of seven children. She was a beloved sister to Aaron Elliott of Palestine, IL, Carolyn Hernandez of Robinson, IL, Barbara Elliott of Indianapolis IN, Jack Elliott of Branson MO, and Patty Elliott of Palestine IL. She became certified in Fiber Optic Splicing from Lincoln Trail College on January 20, 1995 and worked alongside her husband cable splicing, leading them to travel all over the United States. Sharron also earned an Outside Plant/Interconnect Certificate in Telecommunications at LTC. She worked as a cook at Joe's and Flo's of Robinson, IL. She cleaned houses as well, and worked at Vincennes Manufacturing until it closed, before retiring from Victor Dana in 2012. Sharron was known for being an independent, strong, prideful, hardworking woman. She always said that “If you're going to do something, take your time and do it right the first time.” When she wasn’t working, Sharron enjoyed traveling and site-seeing, having visited many zoos, amusement parks, museums, and historical landmarks with her kids. Sharron was a devoted, loyal, and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was quiet and reserved, but she would do anything she could to help anyone who needed it. She loved being outdoors and working in her yard. Sharron was a very talented painter, a pastime she truly enjoyed. She also enjoyed good food, good music, and good company. She had a big heart for all animals, except snakes. But most of all, her greatest joy was her grandkids. Her grandchildren believed that Grandma could make or fix anything, (even the unfixable), and she always succeeded in making them happy. She had an unconditional love for her family that showed everyday and her presence will be greatly missed. It was Sharron’s wish to be cremated, with the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine in charge of the cremation. A memorial service will be held from 3:00-5:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 18th at the Pioneer Room (301 S. Main St. in Palestine), with the family in charge of arrangements.
