Shirley A. Walters, 73, of Robinson, IL, died at 5:55 p.m. on Friday, September 16, 2016 at the Casey Health Care Center in Casey, IL. She was born October 20, 1942 in Robinson, the daughter of Miles Walters & Mary Allison Walters, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Lachenmayr; and by her brothers, Charles Ikemire, Larry Walters, and Jim Walters. She is survived by her sister, Linda Hastings (Ely, NV); by several nieces and nephews; as well as her special friend, Marian Hatfield (Robinson, IL). Shirley enjoyed genealogy, and was an active member of the DAR, which she enjoyed. She also enjoyed family gatherings and loved to go to yard sales. She was a member of the Robinwood Assembly of God Church in Robinson. Shirley was a caregiver to a number of children in Crawford County, and will be remembered for her selfless, giving nature. A brief time of visitation will be held from 4:30-5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 27th at the Palestine Cemetery. A graveside service will follow and will be held at 5:00 p.m. at the Palestine Cemetery with Brother Phil Young officiating the service. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, or to the American Heart Association, with envelopes available at the cemetery. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine is in charge of arrangements.
