Shirley Denton

Shirley Denton, 73, of Robinson died at 6:31 a.m. on April 28, 2014 at Brookstone Estates in Robinson, IL. She was born November 26, 1940 in Flora, IL, the daughter of Werner Schlabach & Ada Mitchell Schlabach. Shirley graduated from Flora High School in 1958. She enjoyed bird watching and in her younger days, she loved camping with her family. She loved gardening and especially loved cooking for family gatherings. Shirley retired from L.S. Heath and Sons, Inc. where she worked in the fundraising division. Prior to that, she worked at Fair Rite in Palestine. She was a resident at Brookstone Estates for the past 2 years, where she made many new friends. There, she put it upon herself to go around to the other residents, collecting signatures for staff members’ birthday cards. Shirley married Bill Denton in 1967, and he preceded her in death in 2008. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Alan and Richard. She is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Kim & Rick Morrison (Longmont, Colorado); her son & daughter-in-law, Michael & Jodi Denton (Robinson); her brother & sister-in-law, Michael & Connie Schlabach (Lafayette, Louisiana); her sister & brother-in-law, Vicki & Lee Laird (Flora, Illinois); her grandsons, Martin Goodrich (Florida), Lucas Goodrich & Fiance, Randi Kelley (West Valley City, Utah); her granddaughter, Sarah & Lonnie Haney (Fairfield, CA); her great-grandchildren, Parker & Tatum Haney; as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 3rd at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. A time of visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until service time at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
