Stanley "Ed" Hayes

Stanley (Ed) Edward Hayes, 63, of Robinson, IL, died at 3:15 a.m. on February 8, 2016 at Good Samaritan Hospital after a battle with cancer. He was born on February 13, 1952 the son of Stanley and Lois Hayes. He is survived by his wife Debbie (Osburn), his children & their spouses, Jason Edward & Mary Hayes (Dieterich, IL), Jared & Adrienne Hayes (Manhattan, Kansas), stepson Jason Alan Beard (Palestine, IL), his mother Lois Hayes, 5 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and his special companion Maxine (dog). He is also survived by his brothers & their spouses John & Kathy Hayes (Newton, IL) and Tim & Carolyn Hayes (Newton, IL), one sister in law and spouse, Kathy (Osburn) & Jeff McKee, (Robinson, IL), mother-in-law and spouse, Dorothy and Charlie Wieland, (Robinson, IL), and several nieces, nephews, one aunt and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Hayes and father-in-law Leslie Osburn. Ed graduated from Newton Community High School in 1970.He worked at TPS Newton, the Newton Police Department and Jasper Co. Sheriff’s Department before moving to Robinson to work for the Robinson City Police Department. While at the RPD he was treasurer for the Southeastern IL Drug Task Force, an officer and Chief of Police. After retiring from the force he went to work at Hershey’s. Ed enjoyed camping, backpacking, black powder club activities and sitting around the campfire with family and friends. He was a past member of the Roger’s Rangers Wetzel Brigade and a shareholder in Whispering Oaks Campground, Robinson, where he was a past board member. Two people were blessed to have received organs from Ed as he was registered as an organ donor. A time of visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 10th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson, IL. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 11th at the funeral home with Mike Knepper officiating the service. A graveside service will follow the funeral and will be held at the Westlawn Cemetery in Newton, IL. Memorials may be made to Crawford County Shop with a Cop.
