Steven Charles 'Stubbie' Dickerson, 58, of Robinson, IL, died at 4:08 p.m. (EST) on July 5, 2014 at the St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. He was born December 31, 1955 in Olney, IL, the son of Charles and Margret (Houser) Dickerson. He was raised in a rural Newton, Illinois and graduated from Newton High School. Steve worked for Marathon Oil for 32 years before retiring on May 1, 2012. He was an exceptionally hard worker, and earned the title of 'handy man', as he was able to fix just about anything. He was oftentimes found mowing lawns, which was something he did well and enjoyed doing. Steve also enjoyed collecting anything related to Oliver tractors, from small collectibles to a number of full-sized classic tractors. Among other things, he was a gardener, a World War II buff, and a rabbit hunter. He was a member of the Robinson Elks Lodge #1188, the Robinson Masonic Lodge #250, and was a trustee at Bible Chapel Church. He married Barbara Dunlap on May 7, 1976 in Robinson, and she survives. He is also survived by his mother and step-father, Margret & Sid Brackett (Newton, IL); his children, Jason & Ann Dickerson (Robinson IL) and Jana Dickerson (Vincennes, IN); his grandchildren, Kaleb Patton, Emily Calip, Kasey Cornwell, and Carleigh Dickerson (all of Robinson); his siblings, Becky & Shane Johnson (Wheeler, IL), David & Kathy Dickerson (Robinson, IL), and Vickie Gillings (Ocala, FL); his step-sister, Maria & Glenn Beard (Ocala, FL); his step-brother, Eric & Karen Brackett (Newton, IL); his mothers-in-law & fathers-in-law, Mary & Jerry Correll and Nancy & Richard Dunlap; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lisa & Mark Hall, Justin & Jessica Dunlap, Brian & Mary Beth Dunlap, and Becky Dunlap; as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 10th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson with Bro Joe Griffith officiating the service. Burial will follow in the Tohill Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9th at the funeral home, with a Masonic service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana Blood & Marrow Transplantation Patient Assistance Fund (in association with the St Francis Foundation), with envelopes available at the funeral home.
