Thelma Lee Best, 85, of Lawrenceville, formerly of Palestine died at 2:55 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2013. She was born October 16, 1927 in Annapolis, IL, the daughter of Hershel Goodwin & Audrey Stifle. Thelma Lee worked in the office of the Department of Human Services in Robinson and also in the LTC Library as a Librarian Aid. Her passion was music, namely singing and playing the guitar. Her gift was evident in the release of her own gospel tape, €œThat Old Country Church€ that went on to sell 100 copies. Thelma Lee attended the Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church for several years. She was a godly woman who loved her 3 grandchildren more than anything, a love she showed them by raising them herself.She married Lawrence A. €œBus€ Best, and he preceded her in death in November of 2005. She was also preceded by her infant sister; her parents; her daughter, Robin Anderson; and her son-in-law, Mark Anderson.She is survived by her sister, G.G. (Tony) Baldwin, MN; her brother-in-law, George (Mary Lou) Arnot, NM; 3 grandchildren, Trevor Anderson, Tyler Anderson, and Amber (Roger) Akers; 2 great-grandchildren, Gracey and Oliver; as well as several friends and extended family.Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 23rd at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson with Pastor Billy Ray Ulrey officiating. Burial will follow at a later date. A visitation will be held from 1:00 until service time at 4:00 on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
