Thelma Lowther Otey, 96 of Robinson, IL died at 10:00 a.m. Sunday, February 12, 2012 at the Ridgeview Care Center in Oblong, IL. She was born February 25, 1915 in Edgar County, IL, the daughter of Homer W. Lowther and Laura McConchie Lowther. She attended the Lockyear Business College for 2 years in Evansville, IN and was a bookkeeper for M. L. Dorsey, C. L. Farnsworth, Mahuska Oil and Paul€™s Marathon. Thelma was the Treasurer for the City of Robinson for 10 years. Thelma was a member of the Robinson First Baptist Church and taught the Jr. Department of the church as well as the Builder€™s Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Robinson American Legion Post #69 Auxiliary and the Robinson V.F.W. Post #4549 Auxiliary. Thelma married Paul Otey on August 22, 1946 and he preceded her in death on April 18, 1986. She was also preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Kathryn Eglin, Eulala Shepard, Ionia Hockett Marbry and two in infancy; and three brothers, Orville R. Lowther, Wilson €œBill€ Lowther and Owen Lowther. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.Memorial servicdes will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson with Jane Strasma officiating. Memorials may be made to the 1st Baptist Church, with envelopes available at Goodwine Funeral Homes and at the cemetery.
