Vernon Leroy Ingrum

Vernon Leroy €œJumbo€ Ingrum, 79, of West Union, died on November 17, 2013 at the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. He was born April 30th, 1934 in Oakland, IL, the son of Harland D. Ingrum and Alice J. Dukeman Ingrum Pinkston. He was a truck driver for 30 years, in which time he logged in 3,000,000 safe miles. He served 14 years on the Clark County Board, was a member of the West Union American Legion and was a part of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. Jumbo was a volunteer fire fighter for years, and was a trustee and active member of the 1st Baptist Church in West Union. He married Louise McCrory on April 7th, 1957 and she preceded him in death on May 2nd, 2003. He was also preceded in death by his parents and sister Susie.He is survived by son Bradley Joe Ingrum (Kathy) of West Union and daughter Annette €œAnnie€ Elaine & Alex Blankenbeker of Martinsville, grandchildren Jacob Ingrum, Cheyenne Blankenbeker and fianc Todd Fancil, and Eli Blankenbeker, and several nieces and nephews.Funeral Service will be held at 10:00am at the West Union 1st Baptist Church on Friday, November 22nd, with Brother Randy Nave officiating. Burial will follow at the Ohio Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00pm-7:00pm on Thursday at the Prust Hosch Funeral Home in West Union. Memorials may be made to the 1st Baptist Church, Ohio Cemetery, or the West Union Library. Envelopes will be made available at the funeral home.
