Virginia Decker, 88, of Flat Rock, IL, died at 11:55 p.m. on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at the Ridgeview Care Center in Oblong, IL. She was born October 25, 1928 in Flat Rock, IL, the daughter of Lester & Elizabeth (Rush) Rich, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Lori Bennett; by her daughter-in-law, Ann Decker; and by siblings, William James Love, Anita Rich, and Jerry Rich. She married Roy Decker on May 5, 1947, and they shared 70 years of marriage before she preceded him in death. She is also survived by her children, Jerry Decker (Robinson, IL), Randy Decker (Porterville, IL), Donna & Mike Jenkins (Palestine, IL) Teresa Davidson (Robinson, IL); by eight grandchildren; by eighteen great-grandchildren; by her brother, Veris Rich (Mount Morris, MI); by her sister, Wanda Weger (TX); as well as several nieces and nephews. Virginia was a graduate of Flat Rock High School. Out of high school, she dedicated her life to being a mother and eventually, grandmother. Following years at home, she started to work at Robinson Transformer before moving on to Victor-Dana, where she worked in production for over 20 years before retiring in 1991. Her retirement years were spent enjoying her grandchildren. She also loved playing Bingo and was an avid reader. Her family will long remember Virginia as a strong-willed, hard-working woman who loved her family with all her heart. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 25th at the Tohill Cemetery in rural Flat Rock, with Albert “Butch” Woods officiating the service. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Flat Rock is in charge of arrangements.
