Virginia Ellen White

Virginia Ellen White, 87, of Robinson, IL, formerly of Palestine, IL, died at 2:38 p.m. (EST) on Monday, August 15, 2016 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, IN. She was born January 6, 1929 in rural Palestine, IL, the daughter of Graydon G. Brashear & Goldie R (Climer) Brashear, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Mac Eugene White on October 31, 1948, who preceded her in death on August 5, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Kerri Anne Murray; by her son-in-law, Herb Hess; by her sister, Ruth Carter; and by her brothers, Russell, Bill, Tom, John, and Dwight Brashear. She is survived by her sons & daughters-in-law, Chris & Lori White (Robinson, IL), Ken White & Bette Gumerson (Noblesville, IN), and Matt & Glenda White (Kingwood, TX); by her daughters & sons-in-law, Karan & Duane Murray (Palestine, IL), Barbara & Walter Fritchie (Palestine, IL) and Rita & Clell Fry (Stoy, IL); by eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; by her brother & sister-in-law, Jim & Mercedes Brashear (LaPorte, IN); by her sister & brother-in-law, Joan & Jake Shonk (Annapolis, IL); as well as several nieces and nephews. Virginia was a graduate of Robinson High School. She was a dedicated and loving wife and mother. She truly enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed camping, sewing, and staying active as Sunday School Superintendent and Custodian at the Palestine First United Methodist Church, where she was a lifetime member. She also co-chaired several beef and noodle suppers at the church. Her family has lost a loving role model and matriarch, and she will be dearly missed. A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 18th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 19th at the funeral home with Pastor Tim Watson officiating the service. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Chase Montgomery Cystic Fibrosis Fund.
