Virginia Jones

Virginia Jones, 98, of Robinson, IL, formerly of Palestine, IL, died at 12:10 a.m. on June 1, 2014 at Heritage Health (formerly Cotillion Ridge Nursing Home) in Robinson. She was born September 24, 1915 in Old Unionville, IN, the daughter of Raymond Roy Fleener & Cordelia Marie Emmaline McCoy Fleener. She was baptized into the Christian faith and was a member of the Palestine 1st Christian Church. She was remembered for her love of animals, but she loved her grandchildren most of all. Virginia married Elvin Wrex “Dink” Jones on December 9, 1936, and he preceded her in death on July 31, 2003. She was also preceded in death by brothers Eugene “Bo” Fleener and Robert Leon Fleener; and sisters Margarita Elizabeth Johnson, Wavel Paulene Richardson, and Winford Joan Reynolds. She was a mother to three children, all of whom survive: Jerry R. & Joy Jones (Bloomington, IN), Carolyn Sue Beard (Palestine, IL), and Don & Myra Jones (Robinson, IL); five grandchildren: Steven Allen Jones, Michael Todd Beard, Tawnya Lynn Carlson, Lisa Jones, and Crystal Anderson; five great-grandchildren, Camron M. & Alyvea Beard, Connor Zachery Carlson, Jack Brady Carlson, Lucas Anderson, and Gracelynn Anderson; her brother, Larry Ray Fleener; her sister, Patricia Delores Fleener; as well as several nieces and nephews. Private graveside services will be held at the Palestine Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
