Walter "Ralph" Odle

Walter €œRalph€ Odle, 82, of Robinson, IL, died at 8:55 a.m. Thursday, September 27, 2012 at the Cotillion Ridge Nursing Home, Robinson, IL. He was born September 30, 1929 in Sullivan, IL, the son of Walter Odle and Lucy Pearl Daugherty Odle. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He worked at the Case Pottery and for the City of Robinson Street Department. He was a member of the Laborers Union, the Robinson American Legion Post #69, the Moose Lodges in Robinson and Casey, the Lawrenceville Eagles, and the Tree of Life Church, Hutsonville.Ralph married Esther Marie Howard and she survives. He is also survived by 2 daughters and his son-in-law, Patricia Speer, Robinson, Brenda and R. J. Rains, Robinson; his sister, Edith Anderson, Terre Haute, IN; his sister-in-law and her husband, Naomi and Robert Miller, Newman, IL; his brother-in-law and his wife, Dwight and Evelyn Howard, Villa Grove; 4 grandchildren, Stephanie Blankenbecker, Beth Ann Littlejohn, Lacey Rains Lowe, Hillary A. Rains; 6 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; several nieces and nephews; as well as his foster children and their children.He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Carolyn Faye Odle; his son, Walter Ralph Odle, Jr; 6 brothers; and 1 sister.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 30, 2012 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson with Pastor Slim Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the Drummond Cemetery, Cumberland County, IL. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, September 29th at the funeral home and on Sunday, September 30th from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. preceding the services at the funeral home. Military flag presentation will be conducted at the cemetery by the Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549. Memorials may be made to Tree of Life, Hutsonville or to the St. Mary Episcopal Church, Robinson with envelopes available at the funeral home.
