Warren Moore

November 6, 1931 — April 17, 2018

Warren Moore, 86, of Robinson, IL, died at 11:08 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Carle Hospital in Urbana, IL. He was born November 6, 1931 in Bement, IL, the son of Chester Moore & Grace (Strohl) Moore; both whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Moore, Dale Moore, Kenneth Moore, Allen Moore; by his sister, Betty Rahn; and by his daughter-in-law, Angie Moore. He married Phyllis (Apgar) on February 23, 1954, and she survives. He is also survived by his children, Diana & Russ Ehlers (Elliot, IL), Cathy & Virgil Gifford (Caldwell, ID), Teri Allman (Robinson, IL); James & Tammy Moore (St. Charles, MO); David Moore (York, PA), Philip & Karen Moore (Mascoutah, IL); by his grandchildren, Andrea, Ryann, April, Brock, Travis, Austin, Dilan, Michael, and Kaytlin; by his 7 great- grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, and 10 step-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. Warren was a 1949 graduate of Tuscola High School. He proudly served his country for 20 years in the U.S. Air Force as a hydraulic mechanic. By the time he retired in 1971, he had earned the rank of Master Sergeant and was serving as an instructor. Back home, he kept working with his hands and loved spending time in his workshop. The master tinkerer he was, he spent countless hours working on engines, with wood, and even computers! Anyone who knew Warren could attest to the fact that he simply never let dust settle, and that he loved his family with vigor. They will lovingly remember his quick wit, his fun-loving nature, and the flair he brought to the art of storytelling. A time of visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 21st at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Funeral services will immediately follow and will be held at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with burial in the Robinson Old Cemetery. Mike McElyea will officiate the services. Memorials may be made to the “Highland Church of Christ” who will use the funds to do mission work, both locally and abroad. Memorial envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
