Wayne A. Welker

Wayne A. Welker, 81, of Salem, IL, formerly of Robinson, IL died at 9:40 a.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at the Salem Township Hospital in Salem, IL. He was born February 20, 1931 in Oblong, IL, the son of William C. Welker and Edna Marie Tennant Garrard. Wayne served in the U. S. Army during Korea. He worked at the Robinson Post Office for 34 years retiring in 1987. He was a past member of the Ernest M Coulter American Legion Post #69, Robinson, the Loyal Order of the Moose, Robinson, and the Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549.Wayne married Norma Kaye Gatton on October 20, 1951 and she preceded him in death on September 26, 2003. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Nolan Welker.He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Rhonda Welker, Salem; his sister, Donave Stanley and Jim Hatland, Las Vegas, NV; 5 grandchildren, Chad Welker, Courtney Gaines, Brett Gaines, Erica Gains, Matthew Gaines; and 2 great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 19, 2012 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson, IL. Burial will be in the Robinson New Cemetery, Robinson. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 18th at the funeral home and Monday, March 19th from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
