William "Bill" Hodson

October 13, 1929 — April 22, 2017

William Eugene Hodson, 87, of Flat Rock, IL, died on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Heritage Health in Robinson, IL. He was born October 13, 1929 in Cowden, IL, the son of Max Hodson & Mina (Miller) Hodson, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Burnas Sarver on September 6, 1950, and she survives. He is also survived by two sons, Terry & wife Marlene Hodson and Paul Hodson; by his daughter, Diane & husband Pat Burnett; by 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Bill was a graduate of Cowden High School and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army from 1947-1949. Back home, he dedicated his life to working the land as a farmer. When he wasn't in the field, he worked as a rural carrier associate for the USPS, and carried for 15 years. He also stayed active with the ASCS Programs and was a longtime member of the Farm Bureau. He was a member of the Highland Church of Christ in Robinson. A celebration of Bill's life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, April 28th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Flat Rock. Burial will follow in the Jones Cemetery, rural Flat Rock. A time of visitation will precede the service and will be held from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jones Cemetery, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
