William "Bill" Mehler

William €œBill€ R. Mehler, 86 of rural Hutsonville, IL, died at 12:18 a.m. Sunday, November 18, 2012 at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson. He was born August 16, 1926 in Hutsonville, IL, the son of Albert €œBert€ Mehler and Gretchen Maddox Mehler. Bill serviced is in the U. S. Army and was a farmer. He was a lifetime member of the Robinson American Legion Post #69, a member of the V. F. W. Post #4549, former member of the Robinson Moose Lodge and a member of the Oak Grove Church, rural Palestine. He loved watching his grandchildren play sports.Bill married Maxine Hockett August 17, 1948 and she preceded him in death on February 5, 2001. He was also preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Louise Caldwell and Wilma Mehler; 1 brother, Randall Mehler.He is survived by his children and their spouses, Gretchen & Dick Wilk, Toni Mehler, Mona & Don Wernz, P. K. & Garry Stepp, Lou Brinkman & friend Sam Durbin; and Jeff & Tracy Mehler; his grandchildren, Krista & Steve Bolton, Mike & Tonya Wilk, Randall & Ashley Wilk, Kendra Welk, Tabitha & Mike Knecht, Dustin & Julia Wernz, Pierce & Rachael Stepp, Emerson Stepp, Ramsay Stepp, Brandy Murray, Tyler & Katelin Mehler, Robert Villa & friend Kayla Reinbold, Ricki Brinkman, Kircie Brinkman, Kindal Wernz & friend, Mike Kavista, Jacob Mehler, Logan & Sammie Mehler, Lucas Mehler, Mike Villa, Barbie & Juan Escobedo; 14 great grandchildren; his sister, Carol & Bob Bement; as well as several nieces and nephews.A special thank you to Bill€™s caregivers, Linda Daugherty and Christy Morgan.Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 24, 2012 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson with Pastor Lois Jean Bonesteel officiating. Pastor Charles Rains is the honorary minister. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 24th at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, rural Palestine. Military graveside services will be conducted by the combined units of the Palestine AmVets Post #33, Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549, Robinson American Legion Post #69, and Flat Rock American Legion Post #132. Memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House or to the Shriner€™s Hospital with envelopes available at the funeral home.
