Zelda Johnson

Zelda Johnson died September 6, 2014 one week short of her 89th birthday. She was born September 13, 1925, the third child of Bill and Goldia Ferguson. She was a life-long resident of Lawrence and Crawford Counties, Illinois. Zelda enjoyed gardening and traveling. She married Marvin O. Johnson in December 1942, and he preceded her in death on January 17, 2000; she was also preceded in death by her parents; her brother, John Ferguson of Bridgeport, IL; her sister Shirley Vogel of Flat Rock, IL; and recently by her son, Marvin Wayne Johnson of Fort Branch, IN. She is survived by one son and daughter in law, Bill & Cathy Johnson of Evansville, Indiana; one step-daughter Wenona Griffin of Pinkstaff, Illinois; her brother, Fred Ferguson of Flat Rock, IL; her sister, Wilma Maxwell of Robinson, IL; 10 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; as well as several nieces & nephews. A dual funeral service will be held for Zelda and her son, Marvin Wayne Johnson at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 9th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Flat Rock, IL with Rev. Dwight McDaniel & her nephew, John Shank to officiate the service. Burial will follow at the Seceder-Maxwell Cemetery, rural Flat Rock, IL. A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 8th at the funeral home.
