NORMA CHESSER
Norma Chesser, 77, of Galien, Michigan, formerly of Palestine, IL, died Wednesday morning, January 19, 2005 at Memorial Hospital, South Bend, IN. She was born February 11, 1927 in Palestine, IL, the daughter of Alva Knoblett and Hazel Staten Knoblett. She graduated Palestine High School in 1945. Norma moved to the Galien area in the early 1950's. She was a loving mother who enjoyed being a Brownie and Girl Scout leader as well as service as a homeroom mother while raising her children. She was a devoted and loving grandmother, attending her grandchildren's concerts and activities. Norma was creative and enjoyed decorating and making holiday treats for nursing home residents. She was a good cook who insisted on cooking from scratch and processed much of her own food from her husband's garden. Norma was also was an avid reader, and was interested in watching the birds and butterflies.
She married Ernest D. Chesser on March 7, 1952 in South Bend, IN. and he survives. She is also survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Eileen Chesser, Stevensville, MI; her 2 daughters, Sue Chesser, Buchanan, Michigan and Deb Chesser, Coloma, Michigan; and 6 grandchildren, Will, Mike, David, Theresa, Tony, and Angela.
Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m. E.S.T. on Friday, January 21, 2005 at the Pobocik Funeral Home, Three Oaks, MI. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. C.S.T. Saturday, January 22, 2005 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Palestine, IL. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. C.S.T. on Sunday, January 23, 2005 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Palestine with Pastor George Meese officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, rural Palestine.
